1. How fit do I need to be?

Anybody who is reasonably active should be able to take part and enjoy our tours. The tours have different levels of physical exertion — we do offer the lesuire level, easy to challenging level, moderate challenging level, and most challenging level (moderate challening, and most channlenging we classify as the sports tour). It depends on what you like your bike tour is, or the capability you can do. The Sports tours are aimed at enthusiast cyclists who might want to bring their own road bikes. However, the rides are not races and there is no time limit - and there is always the minibus if things get too tough! We would nevertheless recommend that anyone who has not taken any regular exercise for some time to consult their doctor before considering any activity based holiday. Bear in mind that a little regular riding before coming on a cycling vacation will always be a benefit to the experience.

2. How about the meals and accommodation?

Just indicate us before your arrvial, and our guide will help you to enjoy your meal. Please notify us immediately if there are any special dietary concerns or considerations that need to be taken into account while travelling with us. We will do our best to ensure your request is accommodated but cannot guarantee this will happen in all cases. Wine can be purchased in most restaurants at your own expense.

Accommodations

There is a wide selection of hotels in Taiwan - budget, business, tourist, luxury, bed and breakfast and apartments accommodation, from 1 star to 5 star. Usually, you’ll find a whole spectrum of choices ranging from luxury resorts, budget hotels, condo rentals, boutiques, campsites, hostels and rentals around major cities like Taipei, Taichung, Kaoshung. However, please understand that we may arrange local small motel while travelling a small town. Two bed or one king bed for a single room can be arranged.

3. Can I use my own bike?

We are happy for anyone to bring their own bikes. However, FLCA offer tour bikes which made by Rikulau with the rental US$20 per day. Our Rikulau bikes are of a high standard, and our customers usually express pleasant surprise at the quality of the machines, so it might be a better option to bring your saddle and/or pedals which we will be very happy to fit. In any case there will always be a backup bike should you have a mechanical problem. Please feel free to call us for advice on bike transportation.

4. Do I have to time to go shopping?

In Taiwan, shopping is plentiful and varied. Whether you need to pick up a quick item at a convenient store, find a bargain at the night market, or just prefer window shopping and eating in a nice comfortable air conditioned mall, Taiwan has it all. Time for shopping is usually, but the actual amount of time available for shopping may be limited due to itinerary constraints. Large stores will accept most major credit cards, while market vendors and small stores will usually accept the local currency only. It is a good idea to take a small amount of cash to use for on-the-spot gratuities and the purchasing of souvenirs.

5. What Personal Stuff for Biking Should I bring?

First of all, you can buy any bicycle stuff in Taiwan at the convenience. However, if you want to prepare in advance, we recommend you:

  1. Bicycle helmet, hand gloves, sunglass
  2. Cycle clothing including jacket, jersey, short, tight. Shower cap is a good idea when you bike in a raining day. It could cover the helmet. Prepare biking shoes or sneakers with the hard bottom for your cycling tour.
  3. Accessories to bring: saddle bag, water bottle, front light and rear flash light, mini pump, and inner tube (be ready your tire size) if you bring your own bike. Please advise us if you are using Tubeless Tires. The tire pressure for the mountain bike is usually between 60~100 psi. You may check the manufacture mark on your tire.

6. How many people on each tour?

As well as being an active holiday, sampling the best that Taiwan has to offer, we believe that our trips should be an opportunity to meet people and make new friends. Our groups are usually limited to a maximum of 16, which is the largest number that we can give a personal service to, and a minimum of 6 people, which we feel is the number needed to achieve a group spirit. If we cannot achieve this number, we may cancel the tour giving a minimum of five weeks notice. Special customize group can be discussed upon the request.
